Art With a Heart is a community-based charity that empowers individuals through expressive arts. We create inclusive and supportive spaces where participants can grow, express themselves, and thrive creatively. Our summer programs provide a meaningful opportunity for young artists to explore their emotions, build friendships, and develop their confidence through art.
Position Overview
The Recreation Programs Manager at Art With A Heart oversees team leadership, administrative tasks, and program facilitation planning for summer camps and adult programs, focusing on mindfulness, expressive arts, wellness, and inclusion, while ensuring participant well-being and safety. This role is able to be a remote position as all work will be accomplished online through Google Drive and Zoom, Slack. This role will transition out at 8 weeks and responsibilities of delivery of planned programs will be taken over by the Recreation Coordinator
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring adherence to Art With A Heart’s policies and processes.
- Overseeing hiring processes and framework, onboarding and training framework
- All internal and external communication and program development
- Assisting in recruiting, screening and interviewing the summer team, comprised of: camp coordinators, counselors and facilitators, as well as volunteers.
- Managing the onboarding and training of new staff alongside other key team leaders.
- Supervising the development and execution of Kids, Youth and Adult with Disabilities, and Adult Programming for the Summer, emphasizing mindfulness, expressive arts, wellness and inclusion.
- Overseeing registration process for kids, youth and adult programming, updating registration forms and collaborating with the marketing team for online registration methods and planning the marketing of programs/camps.
- Oversight of ordering all needed materials and supplies for the summer camps/programs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-year(s) experience in leadership, program management and program coordination, camp coordination experience helpful
- Minimum 1-year(s) experience in leading expressive arts programming or related experience
- Post-Secondary education in Social Science, Education, Art, Art Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy or related programs.
- Experience running Expressive art therapy programs both online and in-person.
- Previous experience within the not-for-profit sector
- Previous experience with Art With A Heart Inc.
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment, responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
- Experience working with and leading teams remotely.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C or awareness of this in guiding the onboarding of the team (does not have to be current but should be from the last 2 years).
