Art With a Heart is a community-based charity that empowers individuals through expressive arts. We create inclusive and supportive spaces where participants can grow, express themselves, and thrive creatively. Our summer programs provide a meaningful opportunity for young artists to explore their emotions, build friendships, and develop their confidence through art.
Position Overview
Art With a Heart is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Camp Counsellor to join our summer programming team for an 8-week contract. Reporting to the Camp Manager, this role plays a key part in co-facilitating our Kids Expressive Arts Summer Camp.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead groups of campers (children aged 4-13 ) in arts-based activities.
- Foster a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Assist in preparing materials and setting up for creative projects.
- Facilitate mindfulness and mental wellness activities tailored to the campers’ needs.
- Encourage positive behavior and teamwork while managing group dynamics.
- Model positive attitudes and behaviors for campers.
- Provide support to Camp Coordinators and Teen Club Coordinator as needed.
- Ensure campers feel valued, inspired, and engaged each day.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children or teens, ideally in a camp or recreational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for arts, creativity, and mindfulness.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
- Ability to manage group behavior and facilitate positive, inclusive interactions.
- First Aid & CPR-C certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Vulnerable Sector Check (required upon hiring).
